Uhuru!

The Uhuru Solidarity Movement, the organization of white people and other allies of African self-determination, has been organizing across the US for “Days in Solidarity with African People,” a multi-faceted campaign of outreach, fundraising, political actions and more, with the goal of raising resources and building support for the African self-determination programs of the Uhuru Movement.

Comrades in Oakland, CA, led by the Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee Penny Hess, have been hitting the streets with dynamic outreach tables, selling issues of the Burning Spear Newspaper, the newspaper of the African People’s Socialist Party, and raising resources as reparations to the African community by winning white people to take the pledge of solidarity with African people.

In St. Petersburg, FL comrades kicked off a whirlwind weekend of organizing with a successful fundraising booth at the St Pete Indie Market, selling Planet Uhuru t-shirts featuring inspiring quotes from revolutionary leaders such as Che Guevara and Chairman Omali Yeshitela. The t-shirts were a hit and the booth was a great fundraiser as well as an opportunity to sign up many North Americans who share our outrage at the conditions faced by African people and are ready to take a stand in solidarity with African people.

On the same day, we traveled to Tampa for the second weekly demonstration against the war on Syria, where we spoke out to express our solidarity with the Syrian resistance to US imperialism, and invited the protesters to a forum the next day where Chairman Omali Yeshitela would address the war on Syria from an African Internationalist perspective.

From coast to coast, the “Days in Solidarity with African People” campaign is reaching the people, and the people are responding. This is what solidarity looks like: reparations in action!
